Half of people participating in the meditation challenge this month are practicing daily meditation for the first time. We’ve seen questions come up around what techniques to use and what progress feels like. Lifter John Muldoon shared some insights with us on those questions and what it felt like when he first began meditating:

How did you get started and what is your daily meditation like?

I didn’t know anything about meditation other than it seemed like a nice idea. I liked the idea of meditation, but I’m not a meditation guru. In December 2012, I decided that every morning I was going to meditate for two minutes. The first thing I do when I get out of bed in the morning is sit quietly and focus on my breath. I started at two minutes and I ramped it up to five, ten and fifteen minutes. I find that it helps me stay present throughout the day in a way that I wasn’t before I started meditation. I find that I’ve made better business decision since I’ve started. My wife says I am a better listener since I started meditation. It’s been a really interesting habit that has unlocked personal growth in ways that I didn’t expect.
